A Prayer for the Journalists

April 6, 2020 Leave a Comment

Oh you who are wisdom & truth, the Living Word yourself, whose words are life & light:

Give skill, diligence, and resolve to all those who labor in journalism right now.

We are deeply thankful for the meaningful service they provide in the service of uncovering the truth and making it known.

Whether their work is on screens or in print, gets the byline or contributes in obscurity, interviews, reports, films, or distributes:

Make them lovers of the truth and fierce defenders of what is fact.

Remind them that the first signs of evil hide in language, so convict their hearts when they shade and spin to merely score points, serve agendas, or salve consciences.

Show them their duty as stewards to the public and to you – that each of us serves a higher master than the one watching at the moment or cutting our check.

May their work be tested and found pleasing in your sight, before whom all hearts are open and from whom no secrets are hidden, for the glory of Jesus Christ.
