A Prayer for One’s Neighbors

March 31, 2020 Leave a Comment

Lord God, you are the Father of the entire human community and look with compassion on all whom you have made. In your word you call us to look not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of others.

In this season where we stay at home, we pray for our neighbors

For those behind us, before us, beside us.

For those n apartments above or below us.

Make us noticers of names and needs.

Break down the walls that separate and divide us.

Forgive us for hoarding when we could be sharing, fearing when we could be loving, hating when we could be forgiving.

Let us see you, Jesus Christ, reflected there in our neighbors

– behind, before, beside, above, below us.

– to guard, guide, & defend for your sake

This is no incantation or magic spell, but a plea for your power to prevail and for all people to know your grace and gospel strong to save.
